Segundo noticia avançada pela organização, está cancelada a edição deste ano do Festival de Vilar de Mouros, que contava já com as presenças de nomes como The Queers e Marky Ramone. FESTIVAL DE MÚSICA DE 2007 NÃO SE REALIZA A Porto Eventos e a Junta de Freguesia de Vilar de Mouros decidiram, com profunda tristeza e após análise cuidada da situação, pela não realização do Festival de Vilar de Mouros em 2007. Apesar do seu lugar ímpar na história da música e dos festivais em Portugal, merecedor, ainda há bem pouco tempo, de um extenso documentário na RTP sobre os 35 anos de festivais em Vilar de Mouros, apesar de ser unanimemente considerado como um dos mais importantes festivais que se realizam em Portugal, o Festival de Vilar de Mouros, em vez de ser fortemente incentivado e apoiado, como seria normal, pelo que significa para todo o concelho é, ao contrário, objecto de um incompreensível alheamento ou mesmo marginalização por parte da Câmara Municipal de Caminha. O sonho último do seu criador, o saudoso Dr. António Barge, era a promoção de uma freguesia e, através dela, de toda uma região, encontrando na música o veículo ideal para fazer sair do anonimato uma parte do país maravilhosa pelas suas gentes, cultura e paisagens, mas ignorada pelos poderes instituídos. E conseguiu-o. Vilar de Mouros, Caminha e todo o Alto Minho devem-lhe uma boa parte da projecção que alcançaram a nível nacional e mesmo internacional. Até por isso e em respeito pela sua memória este Festival deveria merecer outra atenção. Apesar do interesse e do forte empenho de múltiplas entidades e personalidades da região, o mais mítico festival do país apenas teve, desde a sua criação, em 1971, até 1999, duas outras edições: em 1982 e 1996. A época era outra, não havia patrocínios e o saldo final, em termos financeiros, não encorajava em nada a realização de novas edições. Até que, a partir de 1999 e no âmbito de um protocolo de seis anos celebrado entre a Junta de Freguesia e duas empresas promotoras, sendo uma delas a Porto Eventos, foi possível criar um grupo de trabalho equilibrado e empenhado em reeditar este prestigiado festival, conferindo-lhe estabilidade e periodicidade anual. Foi um período de saudável mobilização institucional, com Junta de Freguesia, Câmara Municipal, Região de Turismo do Alto Minho e outras entidades a trabalharem em consonância. A população local sentia-se orgulhosa e cooperativa. O Alto Minho, Caminha e Vilar de Mouros apareceram nos telejornais, encheram páginas e páginas de jornais e as rádios “tocavam” Vilar de Mouros. Pela primeira vez foi possível concretizar uma série continuada de edições com sucesso e muito poucos eram aqueles que se preocupavam com alguns custos, financeiros ou pessoais, que um evento desta envergadura sempre acarreta. Todavia, desde a edição de 2005, a situação alterou-se profundamente. A partir daí e apesar dos nossos sucessivos apelos, nunca mais a Sra Presidente da Câmara Municipal acedeu a receber a Junta de Freguesia ou a Porto Eventos. Mais. Apesar de afirmações públicas em contrário, o município vem assumindo ultimamente atitudes que configuram já, mais do que alguma frieza ou distanciamento, verdadeira hostilidade para com Vilar de Mouros e o seu Festival. Ou que de outra maneira se pode interpretar que haja atrasos desesperantes na simples concessão de licenças, entraves múltiplos em questões vitais de ordem logística e nem uma palavra sobre o Festival apareça na Agenda Cultural da Câmara do mês de Julho do mesmo ano? Assim, não. O Festival é um barco demasiado grande para que nos possamos dar ao luxo de remar um para cada lado. Estamos a 12 de Junho, a pouco mais de um mês da edição programada para 2007 e a Câmara nem sequer responde às cartas registadas que a Porto Eventos lhe enviou. Neste contexto não há, portanto, condições para avançar. A Porto Eventos e a Junta de Freguesia têm de lamentar profundamente que, ao contrário de muitos outros municípios, onde se investe, se dinamiza e se acarinha este tipo de acontecimentos, Vilar de Mouros, o primeiro dos festivais portugueses, seja tratado desta maneira pela Câmara Municipal de Caminha. Mas não é o fim. Trata-se apenas de uma suspensão. Vilar de Mouros é eterno. Pela nossa parte estamos dispostos a tudo fazer para que o festival possa ser retomado já em 2008. Começando pela renegociação dos compromissos entretanto assumidos para este ano e que poderão ser transferidos para o próximo de molde a não prejudicar nenhum artista, banda ou parceiro e prosseguindo com um trabalho de sensibilização de pessoas e entidades, esperamos poder anunciar, a curto prazo, boas novas.
