Trance no Uganda
Uganda: Move Over Goat Races, Here Comes Trance Nite
WHAT started as a theme night at Club Silk few months ago, where fans enjoyed the best of Rock classics: Afro Beats, Garage, Jungle music, Salsa, House and Twist rock, spun by DJ Tone International, has today spread to other parts of the country.
Trance Nite is all about western music, but the type that cuts across all age brackets. This is the sensation that rocks Ugandans hard. During the launch of the night at the beginning of this year, the music was so captivating, but evidently new to most Ugandans.
Today, its popularity has spread to most parts of the country, especially those visited by tourists. For that reason, every end of the month fans will congregate in what is referred to as an 'International Trance Camping Festival to enjoy the event.
Fans will begin their International Trance Camping Festival at Eden Rock Resort, Bujagali Falls, Jinja next month. But in December, there will be a grand festival. Twenty bulls, 80 goats and birds will be slaughtered to celebrate the event.
There will be different activities like Bungee jumping, horse riding, quad bikes, rafting, kayaking and trance disco.
The event is the type referred to as a "Trance Port' in the western world because it runs many days as people move out of their homes for camping with non-stop entertainment.
Basing on western world standards, DJ Tone International, who is the brain behind the event, will spin the popular danceable tunes that will send fans into a frenzy.
On Trance Nite, the music is supposed to be interactive and exciting; fans are happy throughout, because the music is infectious! Trance is a style of electronic music that developed in the 1990s.
The music is generally characterised by a tempo of between 130 and 150 bpm, featuring repeating melodic synthesiser phrases and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track. It often features crescendos and breakdowns.
As this music is almost always played in nightclubs, vacation spots and in inner cities, trance can be understood as a form of club music.
By the mid-1990s, trance, specifically progressive trance, had emerged commercially as one of the dominant genres of dance music.
Isto sim é festa!
